Though the ‘Attack on Titan’ manga ended back in 2021, the anime has continued to bring life to the tragic tale of Eren Yeager and the people of Paradis Island. The manga’s climactic final showdown between Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and the remaining warriors, facing off against Eren and the formidable Shining Centipede, which served as the origin of all Titans. With Levi's help, Mikasa managed to breach Eren's Titan form and decapitate his human body, a poignant moment as we finally get to see her first and final kiss with him. The concluding chapter definitively confirmed Eren's permanent demise, marking a closure to his tumultuous journey.

In the aftermath, Mikasa tenderly carried Eren's head to Armin, who was overcome with grief. She recognized the impossibility of a dignified burial for Eren after the widespread destruction caused by the Rumbling. We leap forward three years ahead, revealing the passage of time since the apocalyptic events. Eren's resting place was beneath the same tree on Paradis where he often sought solace during his childhood. Mikasa shared that their friends, including Armin, Jean, Connie, Annie, and Pieck, were soon to come pay their respects. Gazing at his grave, Mikasa expressed her wish to reunite with Eren once more.

In a poignant moment, the scarf that Eren had given Mikasa when they first met slipped from her neck. Unexpectedly, a bird appeared and carefully rewrapped the scarf around her. We see Mikasa thank the bird and Eren for the symbolic gesture. Notably, a similar bird had crossed paths with Armin and the others aboard a ship en route to Paradis. Throughout the series, birds had frequently symbolized Eren's profound desire for freedom, making this finale an emotionally resonant reflection of his aspirations.

Fall can’t come soon enough for us as we can’t wait to see how MAPPA brings the conclusion of ‘Attack on Titan’ to a closing it deserves.
